Students from Conlan School enjoy a tour of EvadX

20th September 2015

Earlier this week, French foreign exchange students & accompanying staff from Conlan School, Abergele were welcomed by Mel Smith, EvadX Works Manager, who gave an introduction to the work which takes place at their state of the art factory, located on the Tir Llwyd Enterprise Park, Kinmel Bay.

They were given a company induction before being escorted through the factory, stopping at each prominent point in the large scale production process, to have each stage explained to them.

Of particular interest to the students, was the company’s new Voortman CNC cutting & drilling station. EvadX CNC operator, Alan Cummings demonstrated the onerous task of operating this complex piece of machinery, and as all professionals, made it look easy.

On the other side of the factory, Andrew Roberts, EvadX Drawing Office Manager, gave a brief introduction of their Tekla structures software, which is digitally integrated with the CNC machinery. Andrew demonstrated how every steel component is detailed and fabricated with speed and precision, which streamlines the whole design and fabrication process.

Following the students tour of the factory, they went to the New Rhyl High School site, where EvadX have designed, manufactured and are currently erecting the mammoth 500 tonne steel structure.

Operations Director Beth Griffin said:

“It’s important for young people to see for themselves the modern workplace and we’re always keen to welcome students into our factory whenever we can.

“For engineering students, in particular, the workforce of tomorrow, it will hopefully prove to be a useful part of their studies.”
